Durand

Nestled against the Niagara Escarpment, Durand is one of Hamilton’s oldest and most historically significant neighbourhoods. An excellent location, this mature neighbourhood features unique architecture that speaks to its historic roots. Highly accessible, Durand is close to major highways including Highway 403 and Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway, and commuters are able to easily catch a train at the nearby Hamilton GO Centre Station. With Main Street West as Durand’s northern border, and upscale Locke Street just one block away, there is no shortage of excitement in this community, which is best experienced on foot.

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy traversing the Bruce Trail which runs along the neighbourhood’s southern border, while foodies will love the abundance of popular cafes and restaurants within a short walking distance. Bustling James Street South, with its distinct mix of restaurants and healthcare facilities, makes Durand’s eastern border and gives life to this vibrant community. For a dose of arts and culture, the Art Gallery of Hamilton is just one block away, and the Whitehern Historic House & Garden (a Victorian-era home featuring guided tours) is also found in Durand.
